EXHIBITIONS

New designers : 2016

Selected to represent the University of Huddersfield at New Designers 2016. Designs from the collection ‘Oddity’ are to be featured, a project driven by the notion of material ambiguity which looks to challenge the parameters of embroidery. A playful approach to the use of colour and materials is utilised, combining un-conventional materials and processes to embellish a range of modern luxury sportswear fabrics.

KNIt and stitch show, harrogate : 2015

Samples featured challenged the boundaries of traditional embroidery techniques, such as pleating and smocking. Modern sportswear fabrics and contemporary laser-cut techniques were utilised in order to update these techniques and to explore structural potential. I worked as part of a team to curate the University of Huddersfield stand.

surface design show : 2014

Work featured investigated how bioplastics may be produced within a domestic environment. A range of bioplastic prototypes were curated alongside a ‘DIY Bioplastic Kit’ which envisions the potential of these bio-degradable plastics being integrated within our daily lives.

knit and stitch show, harrogate : 2013

A range of illustrative samples which were inspired by the Yorkshire Wildlife Parks’ animal conservation programme. Drawings were translated through the use of free-machine and hand embroidery combined with delicate appliqué techniques capturing the individual traits and characteristics of the species affects by the scheme.
