A project set by Novaglaze, an innovative glass production company whereby designs were to be kept beneath 4mm thick in order to be laminated in glass and utilised to enhance a space. Inspired by the Yorkshire Wildlife Parks’ animal conservation programme, a range of illustrative samples have been created. Delicate appliqué techniques have been applied to chiffon and organza fabrics, selected for their lightweight translucent qualities. As most of the YWP is based outdoors the varying opacities within the designs would allow natural interaction with the sunlight, embracing the attributes of the Park. Drawings have been translated through the use of free-machine and hand embroidery combined with delicate appliqué techniques in order to capture the individual traits and characteristics of the species affects by the scheme.
